Corporations Canada will review all complaints received concerning an alleged contravention of the Canada Business Corporations Act (CBCA). However, complainants should be aware that the CBCA is intended to be primarily self-enforcing, meaning that it provides aggrieved parties with direct access to remedies (see Part XX: Remedies, Offences and Punishment of the CBCA ( PDF Version, 1.57 MB )).
Also, note that Corporations Canada cannot provide legal advice or any interpretation of the legislation.
File a complaint

Before you send a complaint, make sure that the corporation is federally incorporated by conducting a Search for a Federal Corporation.
For Corporations Canada to consider a complaint about an alleged contravention of the CBCA, the complaint must:
- be in writing
- contain sufficient information to substantiate the complaint including, but not limited to:
- the name and corporation number of the corporation
- the name and address of the complainant
- the specific details of the alleged contravention.
